Intersil & Microvision

 Intersil Q3 Earning Transcript
Intersil, who recently announced an agreement to partner on the development of MicroVision’s PicoP display technology, had this to say during their Q3 earnings call:

"And finally, I'd like to address Pico projectors. During the third quarter, we signed a partnership agreement with Microvision to develop Pico projectors designed specifically for handheld devices. We believe that within 2 years, major smartphone, tablet and Ultrabook makers will be shipping products that embed HD Pico projectors, and Intersil will be capable of supplying all of the silicon surrounding the projector light engine. And as previously mentioned, later this quarter, we will be shipping first prototypes of a heads-up display Pico projector system for a major automotive customer"

Intersil also mentioned this just before their discussion on the Microvision partnership:

"...In addition, the Pico projector product line has secured its first design win from a major auto manufacturer for heads-up display."

The primary two picks in the race were Apple and Motorola..  Speculation has now shifted to see which major car manufacture offers a head up display unit that contains Microvisions PicoP Engine..
